Supplemental oral potassium for the treatment or prevention of hypokalemia (potassium depletion), potassium replacement therapy, and / or electrolyte replenisher. How to Use Dosage: for adult use only: Adjust dosage on an individual basis. Prevention of hypokalemia: Take 1 tablet 3-4 times daily. Treatment of hypokalemia: Take 2 tablets 3-4 times daily. - To be taken only on the advice of a physician. - Take immediately after meals or with food to lessen possible stomach upset or laxative action. - Swallow with water; do not chew, suck or crush tablet. - Do not exceed 12 tablets daily. Warnings DO NOT USE IF SEAL IS BROKEN OR MISSING. CAUTIONS AND WARNINGS: Consult a physician prior to use if you have impaired renal function as the use of potassium supplements must be monitored closely. The use of potassium supplements with potassium sparing diuretics (spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride) may lead to hyperkalemia. A probable association exists between the use of coated tablets containing potassium salts, with or without thiazide diuretics, and the incidence of serious bowel ulceration.
